STUDIO SERIES featuring MATT McCORMICK

Introducing the first installment of Austin Post’s Studio Series — a continuing study of artists and cultural figures whose work aligns with the brand’s interests. The series looks to shared references, parallel paths, and the creative forces that shape Austin Post’s visual world.

For its opening chapter, the brand turns to artist Matt McCormick — a frequent point of inspiration and a natural creative counterpart. To mark the release, the team visited McCormick’s studio to learn about the inspirations and visual language that inform his practice, offering a look at the ideas behind the project.

The capsule spans five silhouettes — tees, a hoodie, and a crewneck — presented in multiple colorways.

At its center are two of McCormick’s works, Among The Low Light and Ceremony of Certainty. Used exclusively within this collaboration, these pieces define the shared visual terrain the brand and artist have developed, incorporating graphic type elements that read “At First Light — Season One,” a nod to Austin Post’s debut Fall / Winter 2025 season.

Reflecting on his evolving relationship with the cowboy figure, McCormick shares: “The cowboy has always been this symbol…Westerns with my dad, my grandfather’s Marlboro Reds. I’m a huge fan of Richard Prince and how he reframed that imagery. There’s a lot there — masculinity, identity, how my country exists in the world. The feeling is what matters; whether it’s a cowboy or something else, resonance is the point.”

Through this partnership, Austin Post and McCormick explore the tension between myth and memory, personal history and cultural archetype — situating Western themes within a contemporary, introspective framework shaped by artistic practice and storytelling.
